Showtime HMS Performing Arts selected as a finalist in the Australian Small Business Champion Awards

We are thrilled to announce that Showtime HMS Performing Arts has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Australian Small Business Champion Awards for 2023! This is a significant achievement for us, and we are incredibly grateful for this recognition. The awards are highly respected in the Australian business community, and being selected as a finalist is a testament to our dedication, hard work, and commitment to providing excellence in the performing arts industry.

The Australian Small Business Champion Awards is an annual event that celebrates the achievements of small businesses across Australia. It recognizes the contributions made by small businesses to the economy, their local communities, and society as a whole. The awards showcase the best of the best in the small business industry, with categories ranging from hospitality to retail, tourism, and professional services. This year, over 4,500 entries were received from small businesses all over Australia, making the competition even more fierce.

Showtime HMS Performing Arts has been selected as a finalist in the Dance Studio category. This recognition is a testament to our dedication to providing quality dance education to our students. We believe that dance is an art form that has the power to inspire, transform and empower people of all ages. Our team is passionate about sharing this art form with the community and helping our students reach their full potential.

Being selected as a finalist in the Australian Small Business Champion Awards is a huge honour for us. We are proud to be recognised for our achievements and excited to be a part of this year's awards ceremony. We believe that this recognition will help us to continue to grow and improve as a business, and to continue to provide excellent performing arts education to our students.

25th Anniversary Concert 2022

This year due to covid restrictions early on in the year we made the decision to not have a mid-year concert and only have one big end of year concert to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. The students were really eager to get on stage come December 17th and show their families and friends what they had been working on all year.

This year we decorated our photo wall with some silver celebration balloons and had all students, junior and senior, performing together in the one concert. It was a wonderful day and everyone performed so well. We finished the night with a bang, with confetti poppers during our finale dance which was kept a surprise from all the students just to make it even more fun. It was also a privilege to have one of our ex-teachers Bree Smith join us on stage singing the finale.

Christmas Pageants 2023

In 2022 we welcomed back the Armadale Christmas parade which had taken a break for the past 2 years due to covid, however now it had moved to a Saturday evening meaning it was a very busy day for the Showtime HMS team. We had two groups of performers with one at the Armadale parade and the other performing at the Perth Alinta Christmas Pageant.

For many of our students this was their first ever Christmas pageant performance so it was a very exciting time! Our students dressed in a range of Christmas themed costumes and danced down the streets of Armadale & Perth.

Congratulations to all that participated and we hope it got you in the Christmas spirit ready for the holiday season ahead.

We were lucky to get a lot of screen time on Channel 7's presentation of the Perth Pageant, if you missed it you can watch below.

Photo's from both events can be viewed via our Facebook albums.

25th Anniversary Reunion

To celebrate our 25th Anniversary this year we decided to hold a reunion party and invite all past and present students and their families to join us for an afternoon catch up.

It was so great to see many of our past students and their families, we even got to meet the next generation of students as a few of our ex-students now have their own children! We put on a slideshow of photos and also had all of our old newsletters and concert programs on display. How interesting it was to see the changes that happened over the years and how the timetable of classes were once so small and now has increased to over 30 classes per week.

Having so many students from the beginning of Showtime come back to say hello just shows what a wonderful family environment we have here at Showtime. Once you are a part of the Showtime family you will always be a part of it and we really enjoyed getting to catch up and see what everyone is up to now.

Thank you to everyone who stopped in - we cant wait to do it again at the next big anniversary! #25yearsofshowtimehms

Nepal Festival Perth

On Saturday 26th November we were invited to perform at the Nepal Festival Perth which was held in Forrest Chase, Perth. The festival is run by the Nepalese community in Perth in order to bring different cultures together as well as educate everyone about the Nepalese culture. There were many performances from different groups and cultures around Perth and we were so pleased to be invited to represent the Australian community.

Our intermediate lyrical class performed their concert piece as well as one of our senior students, Braydee Audrain, performed her hip hop competition solo. The audience filled Forrest Chase and the stage was projected on to large screens for all to see. It was a very exciting performance for our students and we hope to be invited back in the future.

Princess Party

During the October school holidays we held our first full day holiday program and had a Princess Party! Students dressed up as their favourite Princess or Prince and spent the day at the studio with so many fun activities.

We started out by making and decorating our own crowns to wear, which saw some fabulous creations! Students all then sat in a circle to play an 'icebreaker' game where we all learnt some new and interesting facts about each other. Next was a quick snack break of Nutella biscuits with sprinkles.

After morning tea Miss Bella taught everyone a fun dance routine to The Lion King's "I Just Cant Wait To Be King". A special surprise was up next - we had hired some silent disco headphones so it was time to dim the lights, get the disco lights out and have a party! We even had a few games of musical statues and musical bobs - of course we all needed to set the headphones to the same channel for this one.

Lunch break included supplied sandwiches, chips and fruit. After lunch we settled in for a movie, the most voted was "Beauty & The Beast" - while being served popcorn and hot chocolate. After the movie we all shared our favourite parts of the day and then wrapped the afternoon up with a final silent disco dance-off!

The day was an absolute blast and we cannot wait for the next holiday program. I wonder what theme it will be?

Kwinana Dance Festival 2022

The Kwinana dance festival was held over the October school holidays at the Koorliny Arts Centre running from Sunday 25th September till Tuesday 4th October. This year we only had a small number of entries due to some of our students who had planned to enter having to withdraw due to injury.

We love seeing the students get up on stage and give it their best whether they place or not, the important thing is they have fun. Congratulation to everyone for getting up there, some for their very first time, and to the below who placed in such large categories.
